Mountain View, CA – August 15, 1995 – Synplicity, Inc.(, developers of fast, easy to use logic synthesis products for hardware designers, shipped the Synplify( FPGA synthesis tool it announced in April on August 1, and free evaluation kits are now available. Synplify compiles, optimizes, and technology maps designs written in industry-standard hardware description languages Verilog HDL and VHDL to leading FPGA and CPLD devices including Actel, Altera, Cypress, QuickLogic, and Xilinx. Synplify runs on PC platforms under Windows and Windows NT, and on UNIX workstations.

Engineers can call Synplicity to receive a free twenty day Synplify evaluation kit. The evaluation kit includes a Quick Start Guide that explains how to install the software and how to run the tutorial. In six easy steps, and in less than five minutes, a novice user can synthesize one of the dozens of provided examples to his or her target device. Since it does not limit the size of the design or the number of lines of source code, advanced synthesis users can use their real Verilog or VHDL designs to benchmark Synplify's capabilities against other synthesis tools they own or are considering. The evaluation kit contains all of the Synplify FPGA and CPLD technology mappers.

Synplify starts at a U.S. list price of $8,000 on PCs and $16,000 on UNIX workstations. Single-architecture versions of Synplify, called Synplify-Lite, are available for a limited time starting at $4,000 on PCs and $8,000 on UNIX workstations. Users who buy Synplify-Lite can later upgrade to the multi-vendor Synplify. Synplify and Synplify-Lite can be obtained directly from Synplicity. Synplicity will also sell through distributors, and will announce them in the upcoming months. Synplify-Lite/QuickLogic, a synthesis tool customized for QuickLogic pASIC, was announced in October 1994. QuickLogic is an OEM for Synplify-Lite/QuickLogic and distributes it with every toolkit.
